President Obama came into office promising to cut the deficit in half, to reduce taxes, and to not expand the size of the government. His budget does the opposite. I opposed the President’s Budget and am an original cosponsor of an alternative budget which will create jobs and decrease our national debt.

This week the media reported that the President’s Budget would anticipate revenues from a cap-and-trade program.  Companies would be required to buy permits from the government.  Don’t be fooled, this is just another tax on American families.

The $787 billion so-called stimulus package, with its 39 new government programs, will add to inflation and hamper economic growth. Instead, we need to strengthen the economy and increase jobs by giving tax credits to the small businesses that create 70% of the new jobs in America.

Thanks to friends and supporters across the 21st Congressional District, I received 80 percent of the vote in the Election on November 5. It turned out to be the most votes in any congressional race in Texas.
