Texans for Lamar Smith

Congressman Lamar Smith today received the endorsement of former United States Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC.

Congressman Lamar Smith today signed The Mount Vernon Statement, a pledge based on the founding documents of our Country that defines the core beliefs and values of the conservative movement.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of these organizations,” Smith said. “I continue to work hard, vote right and stay in touch with the constituents of Congressional District 21 and am grateful to have their support in the primary election next Tuesday.”

“I am very concerned about the direction of our country,” Smith said. “As the senior Republican on the Judiciary Committee, I will work to uphold the Constitution, create more jobs, reduce excessive government spending and oppose a government takeover of our health care system.”

President Obama came into office promising to cut the deficit in half, to reduce taxes, and to not expand the size of the government. His budget does the opposite. I opposed the President’s Budget and am an original cosponsor of an alternative budget which will create jobs and decrease our national debt.

This week the media reported that the President’s Budget would anticipate revenues from a cap-and-trade program.  Companies would be required to buy permits from the government.  Don’t be fooled, this is just another tax on American families.
